Kentucky Derby Party & Free Betting Printables

Last Minute Derby Party Additions

I can’t believe its already almost May and crunch time for our Kentucky Derby party! I love doing a derby party where the afternoon evolves around hats, bourbon and some friendly wagers. If your still prepping for your own derby party be sure to download our free betting printables below and horse profiles for your guests to read up on the horses and easily place their bets. Here are some great add-ons to your Derby party that you can still get in time through Amazon prime.

Mint Julep Bar

Every Kentucky Derby Party needs mint juleps. Having all the ingredients out with a recipe card makes it easy for guests to help themselves. I do include this recipe card in the free printables below. Be sure you have either on the rocks glasses like these or you can buy these pretty gold rimmed disposable cups. A muddler and measuring jigger are also really helpful for guests to make their mint juleps. These racing silk cocktail napkins are such a nice touch I generally place them with the food and the cocktails.

The Derby is the run for the roses. I like to arrange red roses in a mint julep cup or two throughout the table. These small horses are a fun addition as well. I also loved this preserved moss as a table runner. It comes in a roll and I cut it down the middle to make it go a little further. A photo backdrop and props are also fun for guests to use at your derby party. I usually make my backdrops from inexpensive fabric but you can also just use a few rolls of wrapping paper for an inexpensive quick backdrop.

Kentucky Derby Party Betting

The run for the roses is only a few days away and I’m excited to pull out a big hat and some bourbon. To help get in the spirit of the derby I decided to include a little friendly wager among friends by making some FREE Derby Betting Sheet that I wanted to share with you for your own Derby Party. To get the full most recent printable sheets with horse bios and complete bettings sheet please purchase the download in the shop, the first being a betting sheet where guests can write their name to enter their bets, a blank betting sheet if you want to fill in yourself, and two other pages list a little information on all 20 horses to help everyone decide who to bet on if they aren’t familiar with the horses. All the information and images are from KentuckyDerby.com.

If you would like to receive previous year’s printables that include a blank betting sheet you can type in the horse names for free you can sign up with your email further below.

  2. Will you be updating the derby printable after the post positions are drawn tomorrow morning? Keep up the great work!

    1. Toby,
I apologize as I am not updating the printables and did by rank to help get them out sooner per request. I did create an additional printable with post positions that I have already emailed to you and hopes this additional printable will help. Thank you!

  3. I have not received the emails either. If you could resend, I would greatly appreciate it.

  4. I’m struggling to send the second two pages to staples. I can see all three on my computer but because they are all in one file I cannot seems to get them to load individually. Please help 😉

    1. Tiffany,
If you are uploading them online it should upload as its own page and all three pages. Once you upload the PDF you should see the first page and towards the bottom is shows a page number with right and left arrows, you should be able to see the other two pages by clicking the right arrow or changing the page number. If your still having trouble I would call your local copy and print and talk to them, they can usually give you an email address you can send the file with directions how you want it printing and they should be able to better assist you.

  5. Hi, I love the printables. Just wondering how much you bet and what you do to collect the money? Do you have something right there or do you have a person in charge of collecting?

    1. Liz,
Thank you and glad you are loving the printables. I do anywhere from $3-5 a bet, depending on how many guests you have coming and the type of crowd. Usually most people place more than one bet on a few different horses. I’ve always just put out an ice bucket, jar or vase and trust guests to help themselves making their own change if needed and putting in their bets. We also don’t have an kiddos at our party so we don’t worry about any little ones getting into it. I do try to make all my personal bets in $1’s so its easier for others to make change. You could let guests read the printables and mill over their choices awhile and open betting and collect the bets 30-40 minutes before the race happens if its a smaller crowd so you don’t spend the whole gathering collecting bets or standing at a betting station if you prefer to be the one to collect them and not leave out. Hope this helps, have a great Derby day!

  6. Hi, Ashley!

I entered my email address a few days ago to receive the PDFs and I haven’t received anything 🙁 I’m hosting a party tomorrow and I’m printing out materials tonight, but I’m still in need of the wonderful betting page & horse info you’ve created. If you could send the PDFs to me as soon as you can that would be super helpful!!

    Thank you again,
    Becky

  7. i have entered my email and subscribed to your site, how do I download the derby printables?

    1. Robert,
I apologize you did not receive the printables and I was not able to get back to you earlier as I was hosting my own gathering. You would have had to enter your email in the section where it says get the 2019 Derby printables to get them right away. However you are now on the newsletter and next year will automatically get them straight to your inbox once they come out. I hope you had a great weekend!
