DIY How to Make a Flower Photo Backdrop

DIY HOW TO MAKE A FLOWER PHOTO BACKDROP DIY HOW TO MAKE A FLOWER PHOTO BACKDROP

This DIY flower photo back drop was easy to make and easy on the wallet and you don’t need a ton of supplies to have a fun backdrop to your next summer gathering.

Supplies:

  • Cotton King Sized Flat Bed Sheet (if new make sure its prewashed and dried to avoid shrinkage)
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Fabric Medium
  • Brushes
  • Tape (I used Painters Tape)
  • Plastic or tarp to place behind when painting so it doesnt ruin your wall (IT WILL BLEED THROUGH)

Wash and dry your sheet so it will not shrink in the future. Then tape plastic or a tarp to protect your wall from paint bleeding through the sheet while you paint. Next tape your sheet over your protected surface for you blank canvas. To paint follow the directions on your paint medium on the ratio to mix with the acrylic paint. The fabric medium makes it so the paint is more flexible and doesn’t crack with the movement and washing of the fabric. Now paint your backdrop, be creative, use your favorite shapes an colors and  no need to be perfect these flowers are meant to be expressive! It took me about 8 hours to paint this since its quite large, after its dried I would follow the curing directrions on your fabric medium. Usually they suggest curing for a while then heat setting. Its suggested you use an fabric setting appropriate to the fabric and holding an iron with a piece of cloth in between but I let mine cure for a week or so then stuck it in the clothes drier on medium heat for a cycle before washing and worked well for me. Enjoy creating a new stunning backdrop that can easily be customized with a banner for any occasion.
